NGC PROGRAMMES

The Energy Resource Institute (TERI) organized a programme on the school premises on 7th January 2015. The project co-coordinator, Mr.Girish, explained to the students the need to protect environment. 40 NGC students and science teachers took part in the programme. Video clippings on climate change and the hazards of throwing non-degradable and plastic items in the surrounding were shown to students to make it more effective. As part of the programme students planted herbal plants in the herbal garden developed in the school. Recently TERI in appreciation of the environmental activities of our school has extended a cash award of Rs.3000/- for the purpose of nurturing medicinal plants.

We are proud to say that our school has won many such awards for  various environmental activities carried out to create awareness among our children and the society we serve.

On 10th February,2015  Sel.N.Sabeena  and Sel.Indhumathi accompanied 10 NGC Students to Pammal Suriamman temple from where they were taken to the nearest park. There a brief introduction about the sessions was given and the children were divided into three groups. They were taken to Biomethane plant close to the park by Mr.Indira Kumar. In the plant, carbon dioxide and Methane gases are produced and converted to energy. The energy is used to provide electricity for street lights in that area. A tank created by the people in the park provides drinking water to the people in the neighborhood. Children learnt that waste could be changed to energy and the importance of rain water harvesting.
