In response to representations from the parents and the public of south T. Nagar, Chennai, the Sri RKM Sarada Vidyalaya Matriculation School began in 1986 with classes LKG to II standard. It was upgraded to a matriculation syllabus in 1999 and achieving Higher Secondary status in 2004. The medium of instruction in the school is English with Tamil, Hindi and Sanskit as second languages and is co-education unto standard V.
The school has maintained uniformly high academic standards and has received several awards for meritorious results. Tamil and English literary association ensure that students learn about debates and other literary competitions. Festivals are celebrated and great emphasis is placed on strength of character and its development.
