MINI SCIENCE EXPO AT RKM SCIENCE CENTRE

On 4th July RKM Science centre celebrated its second Annual Day. In connection with this a Mini Science Exhibition was organized. Six schools participated in it. 3 Schools of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Ananya, Ahobila Math School and Sri RKM Sarada Vidyalaya Girls Higher Secondary School, Usman Road. Some of the Exhibits were Digestive System Model, Electromagnetic induction, Hydro Electric generation, Rainwater Harvesting etc. The topic we choose was “Conservation of Energy”.

Excellent arrangements were made by the centre for the display of Exhibits.

The Chief Guest was Dr.S.P.Viswanathan, Aerospace Engineer. An alumni of IIT, he worked at Bell Helicopters,US. The other guests of honour were Swami Padmasthananda, President of Ramakrishna Ashram ,Dr.Chandrasekhar, Industrialist and Sri.T.Chakravarthy, Secretary Vivekananda Educational Trust.

Under the caption “Conservation of Energy” small models were displayed depicting how energy can be saved by eating together, by using pressure cooker, by drinking the cool water from the mud pot instead of using fridge, by using public transport, by car pooling, by using bicycle which is eco friendly and by walking short distances.

To show that we should switch over to alternate sources of energy, there was a model solar powered house with solar panel, solar water – heater and solar car. There were two working models of wind mills.

Then there was a set of models depicting the production of Hydrogen the future fuel and how it could be used for running cars.

The chief guest gave a power point presentation on Mechanized Agriculture, Automated Assembly line of Mercedes Auto Factory etc.

With the singing of the National Anthem, the function came to a close.
