On 5th June, World Environment Day(WED) was celebrated grandly in the school premises. The Chief Guest was Lion Capt.Venkat Rajaram, President of Lions club of Central Madras. The other guest of honor were Lion G.V.Raman,Thiru.S.Natesan,Environmentalist, Lion S.N.HariNarayanan and Thiru.R.Govindaraj, President, Exnora Greater Chennai.

The function commenced with prayer. Our Headmistress Tmt.R.Meena welcomed the gathering. In her address, she mentioned the 2015 theme for WED - Sustainable Consumption and Production. There was a speech on the significance of celebrating World Environment Day by Selvi.R.M.GangaPavani, NGC Coordinator. She began with the explanation of 2014 theme for World Environment Day-Small Islands and Climate change and its slogan "Raise your voice not the sea level". She ended with 2015 theme and its slogan "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care". Thiru.Natesan, who spoke next, explained that seven billion dreams referred to seven billion people. He recalled the good old days when there was no need of fan because of the cool breeze due to innumerable trees. Then the Chief Guest Lion.Capt.Venkat Rajaram gave the Presidential address. Thiru.R.Govindaraj, who is closely associated with our school, gave a short & sweet speech. A vote of thanks was proposed by Tmt.M.Bhavathy Ammal, RSP Coordinator and Physical Education Directress.

The NGC,NSS,JRC,RSP and Guide members formed a Human chain outside the school premises. Holding placards bearing slogans, they created awareness among the public about the need to protect the environment. Then there was a tree planting event by the guests of honor. They planted saplings in the school garden as an initiative towards greening the earth.
