NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY



Every year 28th February is celebrated as National Science Day. It was on this day, in 1928 Sir C.V.Raman, the greatest scientist of India discovered the famous Raman effect. According to him, the Sea appears blue, because it observers all the colours except blue. For this great discovery he was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize.

          In connection with National Science Day, a Science Expo was organised in our school premises on 26th and 27th February 2015. The exhibition was inaugurated by our Honourable Secretary Smt.Harini Varma. Almost all the students of Std VIII participated in the Expo. Our Headmistress Smt.R.Meena and our teacher Selvi.R.M.Gangapavani were the judges. Miniature forests, Zoological parks and Vedanthangal bird sanctuary were a feast to the eyes. There were also projects depicting Solar energy with solar powered house, solar water heater, solar cooker, etc and Deforestation with men cutting trees, tree stumps and animals going to cities.

          In contrast to the latter, there was a project on Afforestation with lust green trees. First and second prizes were awarded to the best projects in each class. 24 students bagged the I prize and 30 students   bagged the II prize. Consolation and participation prizes were also given. The students gained much knowledge by this Expo.
