ABOUT SARADA VIDYALAYA

Swami Vivekananda considered education the panacea for all social evils.  According to Swamiji what was wanted then in India in the early 20th century ‘was not a man, but a woman – a real lioness – to work for the Indian, women specially’.  His search for the lioness  was over  when Sister Subbalakshmi, fulfilled  the vision of Swami Vivekananda in the field of women’s education. She sowed the seeds of  Sri Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyalaya, which has now grown into a huge banyan tree which sheltered and has been sheltering countless girls and women.

Sarada Vidyalaya is rendering yeoman service in the field of women’s education for 94  years. From a humble beginning in 1921,the institution has grown and catering to the needs of girls mostly from the lower section of the society by imparting value based education as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda for the empowerment of women.The Vidyalaya makes use of the advancement in technology to equip the girls to compete with their counterparts.
